8 Months 4 Days

I am patiently awaiting my referral... Well patiently may be an overstatement. I am going nuttsy crazy. I am driving my good and true friend Linda a little crazy I think. She is so good and listens/consoles me so truly patiently!! To top that off she will by my travel partner to Ethiopia to help out and generally keep me on the staight and narrow!!

I have now purchased enough cloths for a 3, 6 and 9 months old. I don't know how old my daughter will be when I meet her but I figure anything too small can be left for the Transitional home.

I went on a crazy jag to keep my baby warm and bought 8 blankets (buy 1 get one half off!)

I have crocheted 2 and half blankets.

So now I've gotten all my travel size items.

So basically I'm going crazy!! I guess if I was pregnant you would call it nesting.

Boo Hoo I want my Baby!!

See you soon

7 7 7 Let's sing a song of 7

OK, it has been 7 months now!! 2 to 4 left to go....

The big tasks for me this month...
  • Find a pediatrician
  • Find Day Care
  • Rename my Dog

Ok My dog who I love enormously is remotely named a family name which I may now want to give my daughter. Is that too weird....

So after a long search for a name that fit..
  • Brindy - She is kind of brindle
  • Shadow - She is blackish and always right behind me
  • Jabberwocky - She has jaws that bite and claws that catch (ever so softly) plus my Dad used to recite this poem to us. This had an issue because the second part sound a bit like walk and she would go crazy when I called her this.

Mimsy is her name now...

' Twas brillig, and the slithy toves Did gyre and gimble in the wabe:
All MIMSY were the borogoves And Mome raths outgrabe.

"Beware the Jabberwack, My Son! The Jaws that bite, the claws that catch!
Beware the Jubjub bird, and shun The frumious Bandersnatch!"

Six Months

Well, 6 Months (and 9 Days.) On the unofficial list I am in the top ten YEAH!! Unfortunately that doesn't mean anything!!

This month has been very slow for referrals, after last month with an unprecedented 5 baby girls it is kind of a bummer.

5 Months Down

OK, I am five months into the waiting game. Someone said the other day that my baby is on the earth somewhere right now. Talk about a mind spinning thought.

We got 4 referrals today in our Yahoo Group, plus two we are thinking might come to light soon. (It's a long story, just be excited.)

On the unoffical list I am number 11 for a Girl, and 14 for a Girl/Either. The girl referrals seem to come in about 2 a month so we are still looking at another 5 to 6 months.

All sorts of stuff and rumors going around about the Ethiopian process right now. A third Judge being added, the court not closing, a special investigation on abandoned children being completed. I'm not sure where to substantiate any of this information but I am hopeful these things are true.

Obligated

OK I feel very obligated to try and make my BLOG stalk-worthy. So here are my deep dark secretes for today.
  1. We (my Yahoo Group) are in desperate need of referals. Our mood has not been the best. There has been a court slow down along with the lack of referals.
  2. I am around (and unofficially) number 28 on the unofficial waiting list. But number 12 on the girl only line, with around 5 either's in the mix.
  3. I like peanut butter and Jelly sandwiches.
  4. I am adoption crazed!!

I am very Frustrated

Someone out there has used my name "Double Oh Mommy" on some kind of process or product. Now they did add dashes in the name "Double-Oh-Mommy" but this is far too similar for my taste.

Four Months Gone, Yip Yip YIPPIE

OK I am 4 months into my wait and still hanging on!!

My adoption process tip for this month is for those from NC. Please remember whatever you are told to get EVERYTHING notarized and authenticated. NC is one of the two or three states that require this so the agencies (at least mine) sometimes forget this.

Also a really good book for the international adoption process is "The Complete Book of International Adoption - A Step by Step Guide to Finding Your Child" by Dawn Davenport. It covers all the phases of the adoption. In the travel portion she recommends 3 sets of undies per traveler; this to me is insane.
